Most people forget that diet and lifestyle habits are what keep you healthy and are only focused on how to lose weight fast. The fitness industry in America is booming and it becomes hard for consumers to be able to tell the difference between a diet that can help you make a lifestyle change and a fad diet that is just going to frustrate them. Yo-yo dieting has become an epidemic; 94% of women and men who reach their ideal weight will gain those pounds back. The constant cycle of losing and gaining weight is due to embarking on diets that are so stringent and restrictive that they cannot be maintained. This cycle can also result in the excessive dieter becoming dejected and drained.

The list is endless: the grapefruit diet, the cabbage soup diet, morning banana diet, all protein diet etc. All of these offer the assurance of quick weight loss by following a controlled eating plan. Most fad diets make claims that are feasible; they provide the science behind the theory. The body stores carbohydrates so dont eat them, banana enzymes break food up faster, liquid meals are faster and filling; the claim is not the problem because they never claim that you can maintain that eating style for a lifetime or that you wont gain the weight back.

Obviously there are a lot of diets out there that are not sensible as a long term solutions for overweight individuals. They are stunts that trick the body to lose weight fast, which will later appear back on your body when you put an end to the ridiculous eating plan. In the end only changing your habits and vices will give you a good chance of maintaining a healthy and fit body.
